This week I am reading:

The Maze Runner by James Dashner.

imagesThere are four books in this series: book one; The Maze Runner[i], book two; The Scorch Trials [ii], book three; The Death Cure[iii] and the prequel; The Kill Order[iv].

I have already posted a review of this book, which can be found here, so I’m going to be pretty brief as I have already had a bit of a rant of its brilliantness in that previous Blog post. That and I have a couple thousand words to write if I am going to finish NaNoWriMo on time! This book took me one night to finish. I honestly couldn’t put it down I was that enthralled. It’s just a brilliant dystopian, post-apocalyptic, sci-fic young adult fictional book and man that was a mouthful.

If you haven’t gotten your hands on this book yet, then you must. Right now. Seriously, run to your nearest book store because this book is that one thing that is missing from your life. I’m a sucker for a really imaginative post-apocalyptic novel and this one pretty much hits all the right marks.

I have heard a lot of talk about The Maze Runner just being another Hunger Games or Divergent. Those people could not be more incorrect. Now while Divergent is currently on my “two read” pile and I forced my way through the Hunger Games I know that they all have a similar premise. But that is merely because they are of the same genre. Dystopian, post-apocalyptic types. Trust me, you will find countless books that have the same premise and countless more that have the same premise as these three. That’s kind of why we have genres. They are, however, completely different books and it’s only because these books have blown up due to the movie adaptions that there is all this chatter.

One of my favourite things about these books is definitely the cover. I mean it’s amazing; it draws you in immediately, starts to wrap itself around you before you’ve even read one word.

This week’s read was really only a day’s read but it stayed with me throughout the week. I’ve already got the second book waiting on my bedside table.

If you would like to get a copy for yourself and start an amazing new adventure then you can grab them over at The Book Depository.
